On Tuesday, December 8th, duly registered voters who are residents served by the Massapequa Water District will be able to elect one individual to serve a three-year term on the Massapequa Water District Board of Commissioners. Voting will take place at Massapequa Water District Administration Building located at 84 Grand Avenue in Massapequa from 4 to 9 p.m.
The Massapequa Board of Commissioners is comprised of
three elected members, each of whom resides in the district’s service
area and commits to fulfilling a three-year term. The term of the newly
elected Commissioner starts on the first Monday in January 2010. The Board
works together to oversee the water district’s annual operating budget
and make the financial and business decisions necessary to manage the
public utility in the best interest of the community.
All of revenue collected by the water district through
either water rates or ad valorem taxes is used to maintain and improve
the district’s infrastructure and distribution system. Additionally, these
funds cover electric and fuel expenses, staffing, administrative costs,
insurance premiums and professional fees. In return, our consumers enjoy
a safe, potable water supply of the highest quality possible and excellent
customer service.
In order to be eligible for the elected position of Water District Commissioner, the candidate:
1. Must be an individual whose primary residence is served by the Massapequa Water District |

2. Must submit a petition, available at the District Administrative
Office, with a minimum of 25 signatures prior to 4 pm on
Friday, November 6, 2009. |
